In Geneva, almost 9% of the population practices tennis, much more than the Swiss average. To meet the needs of Geneva tennis players, the area dedicated to tennis at Bois-des-Frères sports center has been completely restructured.
Allow the game in any season
The new permanent hall is located near the two other buildings in the sports center. It now houses Three covered land To allow the game in any season.
Inside, the retractable stands offer approximately 220 seats and 30 additional places for wheelchairs. It is equipped with sanitary facilities available to users, and a conference room reserved for clubs.
Installed in the continuity of the hall, Three outdoor land with stands were built in artificial clay, an area passable in all time.
Universal accessibility is ensured for the whole new sports area.
Energy transition
The new building will reach the standard of Very high energy performance (THPE) – 2000 W. For its heating, it will be connected to the GENI -SIG remote heating network.
The heating system is based on devices installed in roof (called aerotherms). They recover and distribute heat, while ensuring optimal ventilation with a fresh air intake adapted to the needs. This system makes it possible to obtain thermal comfort adapted to the practice of tennis.
The roof of the hall has a 898 m² photovoltaic solar installationwhich completes that of the gym of the Chemin de l’Éche 35. Together, these installations will allow self -consumption of electricity up to around 50%.
The solar installation is combined with vegetation. This improves thermal insulation, water retention and biodiversity, thus strengthening the sustainability of the building. An accent was focused on low roofs to promote both fauna and indigenous flora by creating micro-habitats and the use of local materials.
A water tank located in front of the gym was used to allow the Rainwater storage. The collected water is thus used for watering green spaces around the tennis hall.
Exterior developments
Twenty-four new trees have been planted (10 essences are present on the site), in particular on the square located between the tennis hall and the apparatus room, which will allow users to stand in peace away from the traffe of the path ECU.
