European Heritage Days | City of Geneva

For this 30th edition, the sustainability of our cultural heritage is at the heart of our concerns.

Entitled “reuse and recycling”the Heritage Days explores the culture of building through current societal challenges: repairing or re-using instead of throwing away, recycling instead of destroying, reallocating instead of abandoning.

The European Heritage Days 2023 theme of “re-use and recycling” thus addresses a topical question. These days will undoubtedly offer an opportunity for discoveries, experiences, and debates while examining questions and new possibilities for overcoming current societal challenges.

    Program

One of the strengths of the event this year is the partnership launched with Cité Seniors and Pro Senectute Geneva with a view to organizing a vintage flea market run by senior citizens at the Pavillon Sicli throughout the weekend.

A rich program will also be organized at the former industrial zone of Les Charmillesthanks to the involvement of the actors of the site.

Discover the full program for the weekend of 9-10 September 2023. Registrations for certain activities will be open from 1 September 2023.

    Female Heritage Day

The female heritage element of the EHD will also play a key role, this year with several visits and events connected to the theme. A launch evening, organized on Tuesday 5 September at 6.30 pm at the gamMAH cultural centre, will include a conference entitled “Rethinking female heritage”. Organized in collaboration with the Agenda 21 service, this evening will serve to present the program for the subsequent weekend and to shed light on the EHD, launched in 2021 and which is now finding resonance at national level.
