Symphony and lapping
On the program for these three days of open-air concerts offered by the Orchestra of French-speaking Switzerland: a symphonic evening Thursday, a special Hitchcock movie-concert on Friday and a jazz evening in tribute to Ella Fitzgerald the Saturday.
Classic Evening – Thursday August 17
It is at sunset, by the lake, that the festival opens, with a grandiose symphonic program. The Orchestra will perform some of the most great classic “hits” under the baton of Lucie Leguay and with violinist Inmo Yang. The Slavic world and Russia are on the program for this opening night: “In the steppes of Central Asia” byAlexander Borodin“Zigeunerweisen” from Pablo de Sarasata“Slavic Dances” fromAntonin Dvorak“Gypsy” from Maurice Ravel“Carmen” by Georges Bizet.
Movie Night – Friday August 18
Discover or rediscover the film “Cold sweat” (Vertigo – 1958 – original version with French subtitles) of Alfred hitchcock including the original soundtrack, signed Bernard Hermann, is performed live by the OSR under the direction of Ernst Van Tiel. From the prelude, the music spins in a spiral, like the motifs of the credits drawn by Saul Bass. From daydreams and nightmares, Herrmann invents here a unique urban Gothic style. Chills guaranteed.
Jazz Evening – Saturday August 19
The OSR will pay tribute to the legendary jazz diva, Ella Fitzgerald, with “A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald”an original musical project that revisits the singer’s repertoire, arranged exclusively for the orchestra by the composer Alexander Mastrangelo and interpreted by the singer Lucy Woodward.
