New layout
A large pedestrian square was built along the buildings. As an extension, the diagonal alley connecting Boulevard de Saint-Georges was redeveloped into pedestrian zone.
In addition to the contribution of additional vegetationA fountain pool ornamental was installed to produce coolness in summer. For the same purpose, floor coverings are largely permeable and light in color.
Calmed traffic
The ccomfort and safety of gentle travel have been improved. Traffic was maintained at 20 km/h, in clearly demarcated vehicle areas. Previously, the road function was predominant at this location. Of street furniture and suitable lighting instead were put in place. There cemetery fence des Rois was renovated in connection with the street.
31 new trees planted in the ground
Significant revegetation of this place was carried out, with the planting of 31 new trees. Particular care was taken in the installation of these trees, to create an environment favorable to their development. They are planted in so-called “Stockholm” pitscomposed of a mixture of large-grained crushed stones and a substrate. This system makes it possible to do without topsoil, which is becoming rarer these days. These pits also make it possible to capture rainwater to irrigate trees, instead of sending them down the pipes. The water running off the concrete surfaces is also redirected towards the plantations thanks to a slope system.
