Geneva in your pocket, the application for Geneva population | City of Geneva

As part of the implementation of the digital transition policy initiated by the City of Geneva, the Genève en pouch application is a concrete measure promoting access to information and services from the City. Indeed, this application brings together the most useful informationavailable quickly and arranged in a simple and colorful design.

It presents the most recent news from the municipality and offers access to a multitude of administrative procedures, from registration for sports schools to the request for disposal of a bulky object, including requests for documents from the Civil Status.

    Wide range of events

In addition, the agenda provides access to a wide selection of events, which can be filtered by date, by event category or by the audience they are aimed at. With a simple click, the user can also save the events that interest him in the calendar of his smartphone.

The application also offers thematic maps as well as geolocated routes punctuated with points of interest. “Nature” itineraries allow you to indulge in bucolic strolls through remarkable trees, while “culture” walks invite you to discover the districts over the course of their history or works of art scattered in the public space.

    Harassment in public spaces

Among the main new features, we can mention the “street harassment” tab which will allow people who are victims of inappropriate gestures or comments in the public space, with a sexual or sexist connotation, to report to the municipal police. The latter will follow up on the case and will eventually be able to benefit from a mapping of the reported cases. This will allow the municipal police to reinforce and organize patrols in order to prevent problematic situations. As a reminder, the 2022 local security contract concluded between the municipal police of the City of Geneva and the cantonal police also aims to better support victims of street harassment. This possibility of digital reporting is part of this objective and that of the City to fight against gender-based violence.

Note that a first version of Geneva in your pocket was launched in October 2021 on the occasion of Seniors’ Day. Started with a senior axis, the application has proven itself for several months during which the experience of users has served as a basis for fine-tuning all the features. Information for seniors has also been enhanced and developed.
