This year, the Geneva Lux light festival celebrated its tenth anniversary. From Friday January 19 to Sunday February 4, 2024, 32 luminous works were visible and freely accessible.
During these two weeks of festival, nearly 150,000 visitors strolled along the quays to enjoy the works and shows on offer. A record for this event whose objective is to bring together art in public spaces and to enliven Geneva in the heart of winter.
The Geneva Lux has today established itself on the map of light festivals in Switzerland and Europe, to the delight of the Geneva population and those passing through.
Performances that attracted crowds
Several performances were on the program. Dunduthe friendly giant of light, Akathe immense puppet and finally The whale which floated above the harbor yesterday and the day before yesterday attracted nearly 40,000 people every weekend.
Presence on social networks
On social networks, if we add up the audiences of the Geneva Lux Facebook and Instagram pages, nearly 2 million people have seen the festival’s publications.
A flagship event of the Geneva winter
“This edition was a huge success, we had never seen so many people on the quays in the middle of winter,” underlines Marie Barbey-Chpuis, administrative advisor for the City of Geneva. “The Geneva Lux festival has become a flagship winter event in terms of attractiveness for our city. See you in 2025 for the eleventh edition.”
