    2024 call for projects for cross-border culture | City of Geneva

    The cross-border cultural fund continues its development in 2024. For this 2nd edition, the elected officials of the municipalities of Greater Geneva intend encourage the emergence of innovative cultural projectssupported by associations, local authorities or even local artists.

    If the 2023 envelope amounted to €100,000/CHF, the 2024 envelope of this common cultural fund could reach €170,000/CHF.

    Sami Kanaan, Administrative Councilor of the City of Geneva, would like to recall “the importance of cross-border collaboration, also in terms of culture which contributes to better mutual understanding and contributes to giving a common identity to our region”.

    Who can apply?
    Projects can be carried out by associations, artists, or local authorities.

    Which projects are eligible?
    The cultural project must begin after the date of submission of the 2024 file and may be deployed in 2025. The cross-border character of Greater Geneva will be essential, consolidated by dual French and Geneva portage. Innovation and ecological transition are among the criteria on which a response is expected. The juries will be extremely attentive to the quality of the projects.

    What is the selection process?
    Each file will be studied by a technical jury and a jury of Swiss and French elected officials. The jury’s opinion will be presented to the Union Committee of the Pôle métropolitain du Genevois français at the end of June 2024 for validation. The French Genevois metropolitan center also continues to support cultural projects which will take place in several intermunicipalities in French Genevois.

    Projects already supported in 2023

    Since the Cultural Meetings on February 1, 2023, the first edition of the cross-border cultural fund was launched and was hailed as a great success. This one made it possible to support 8 cross-border projectsinitiatives which have, for example, forged links between water and a host of artistic media (supported by IRHA, AMIC, Hmm Production), between tales and cycling by bike (The Wheel That Turns, Friends of the Fountain ), organized meetings of visual arts professionals (Artists Documents Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and Geneva) and innovative extensions of festivals supported by better-known structures such as Antigel and JazzContreBand.
