    Ciné Transat: Special Children’s Rights Evening | City of Geneva

    Capernaum », a film by the director Nadine Labaki, tells the story of a twelve-year-old boy, Zain, who lives in a poor neighborhood of Beirut.     Centenary of the Geneva Declaration on the Rights of the Child

    The evening is offered by the Department of Social Cohesion and Solidarity on the occasion of centenary of the Geneva Declaration on the Rights of Children. This text, written by a pioneer, Eglantyne Jebb, made history. It was adopted in 1924 by the League of Nations and subsequently inspired the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989.
    Several events mark the centenary of this Declaration. In February 2024, the remains of Eglantyne Jebb, who died in Geneva in 1928, were transferred from Saint-Georges to Cemetery of the Kings, in the presence of the descendants of this courageous and visionary woman. A crib bearing his name will open its doors in Frontenex at the start of the school year. A publication chronicling the life and work of Eglantyne Jebb is also planned.
