    Restoration of Broken Chair by Handicap International | City of Geneva

    In 1997, Handicap International installed Broken Chair on the Place des Nations to alert public opinion and the international community to its responsibility and the importance of protect civilians against antipersonnel mines, then in 2008 against cluster munitions, and since 2016 against bombings in populated areas.

    Broken Chair, created by artist Daniel Berset, is owned by Handicap International.

    Exposure

    From the 1st of July: two exhibition modules (in French and English) are installed at Place des Nations, explaining the role of Broken Chair and the work of Handicap International against armed violence

    From the July 3: four tarpaulins are installed on the scaffolding (in French and English).

    Funding

    The financing of this restoration is entirely ensured by companies and foundations keen to preserve this monument of international Genevaspokesperson for victims of explosive weapons around the world.
