Former worker and union activist, André Hediger was elected to the Administrative Council in 1987, where he served for two decades, leaving office in 2007. In charge of Security and Sports, he was particularly committed during his long mandate to the practice sport for all and is notably at the origin of the creation of numerous sports infrastructures, including the construction of the Stade de Genève.
Close to the population, who often called him simply “Dédé”, André Hediger was a man of convictions, who left his mark on Geneva politics at the turn of the 21st century.
