It is with great disappointment that the canton and the City of Geneva today welcomed the announcement made by the SSR to award Basel the hosting of the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2025.
The Geneva authorities would like to thank all the actors of the Geneva candidacy within the canton, the City of Geneva, Palexpo, Geneva Tourism, the numerous representatives of the political world and the local economy who have supported this project, and of course the population who showed their enthusiasm. Although the final decision did not go in the expected direction, Geneva demonstrated its ability to come together in record time and propose a solid candidacy to organize Eurovision.
The Geneva authorities send their best wishes to the city of Basel and have no doubt that it will be able to promote Switzerland throughout the world during this major cultural event.
Switzerland can continue to count on the commitment of the canton at the end of Lake Geneva to also vibrate to the rhythm of the Eurovision song contest according to modalities to be defined. This event deserves to resonate as it should throughout the country.
