Construction progress and schedule
The aim of the work is to redevelop the Route des Franchises in the form of a “landscape avenue”, to improve the quality of life of residents and road safety.
The preparatory phase of the work began on July 15, 2024. In fact, several weeks of interventions were first necessary, without impact on traffic. The Geneva Public Transport overhead contact line was notably moved to allow buses to remain open during the work.
The total duration of the work is estimated at approximately 30 months. The actual work will take place mainly on the section of Route des Franchises located between avenue Soret and avenue Edmond-Vaucher, until spring 2025.
From September 4, the Route des Franchises will be one-way, from avenue Châtelaine/rue de Lyon towards avenue Edmond-Vaucher. This measure is planned for a period of approximately one year.
