With 90 exhibitorsthis event was a great success. From bakeries, cheeses and charcuterie, to fruits and vegetables, including lemonades, beers, wines and even honey, we found the great diversity of local agricultural productswith the complicity of the artisans who transform this raw material.
Promotion and meetings
Festi’Terroir aims to introduce the public to the food artisans and farmers of the region. But not only that: the event also wishes to highlight those who practice direct sales (on the farm, in grocery stores or via baskets), who cultivate links with consumers and who pay great attention toecology. A significant proportion of producers present are thus labeled ORGANIC.
“The festival is a superb opportunity to get together and exchange ideas between our different trades, at all levels of production, processing and distribution,” explains Martial Läser, organic cereal producer in Presinge.
While waiting to see their order books grow after the weekend’s full number of contacts, the stands were able to sell their goods successfully, like the bakers of “Pain du Jardin”, based in Corsinge, who did not stop a minute to bake bread in their mobile oven and interact with the population.
Where can you find these products the rest of the year?
Apart from Festi’Terroir, where can we find all these products the rest of the year?
THE grocery stores like the Nest, the Arcade or the Bean, the online markets like Karibou or Espace Terroir, the farm shopsthe markets or even the weekly baskets are all ways to find them at any time.
Gaëlle Bigler was present to introduce local contract farming baskets, like the Jardins de Cocagne, also there. According to her, “the delivery of weekly baskets is a very practical solution for having ultra-fresh products while fairly remunerating the farmers of the region”.
Geneva winemaker, Emilienne Hutin adds: “At equivalent quality, our bottles are not necessarily more expensive than imported bottles. We find the whole range of prices and qualities. And if the wallet is a problem, why not start with buy local products once a month”?
The links with the restoration are also essential, Raphaël Jüngling, head of the Meaty butcher shop, also comes to Festi’Terroir to “meet and convince professionals that direct sales include many advantages, therefore excellent traceability and close contact with breeders .”
An example of waste management
Festi’Terroir is also an example in terms of waste management. The dishes used are entirely washable, without deposit. The catering stands cannot use any disposable containers and they play the game well. In total, nearly 30,000 units of tableware will have circulated during the three days, with the valuable support of the young people of the Job box that sorting.
