Each year, the FMAC calls for a competition call for curatorial project in residence in order to showcase its contemporary art collection for a period of one year to allow cultural actors and actresses to take advantage of it in order to provide a personal and unique perspective through programming for the public.
The art historian Isaline Vuille won the 2024 call for projects with his project “ever ever ever expanding waves” which explores the stories of the Geneva independent art scene, alternative culture, in the FMAC collection.
Stories of independent art spaces in Geneva
After a first exhibition with historical accents entitled “coalitions“, Isaline Vuille offers with “flux” an unprecedented collaboration with several art spaces currently in activity which work in close connection with the young artistic scene. Their mission: to choose a few works from the FMAC collection and carry out an intervention echoing in the exhibition.
Abundant, “Flux” is a multiplication of views on a heritage collection fully anchored in the present. Collaborations, invitations from artists, variety of formats and commitments are there, and testify to a scene of art spaces that is both diversified and dynamic.
