Lahcen Isaac Hammouch: A Pillar of Social Cohesion in Brussels

In a world where community tensions and discrimination are major issues, Lahcen Isaac Hammouch stands out as a committed and passionate player for social peace and living together in Brussels. Writer, journalist and politician, he embodies the values of an inclusive society that respects diversity.

Born on January 1, 1970, Lahcen is 53 years old. Widowed and the father of a 15-year-old son, he has integrated and actively participated in the life of his city. His professional career, which has spanned various ministries since 2004, including Justice and Social Integration, bears witness to his dedication to the State and his fellow citizens. Delegate to the Brussels Youth Service, he has always believed in the power of young people to build a better future.

Lahcen decided to become politically involved after the tragic attacks in Paris and Brussels, understanding the urgent need to build a bulwark against communitarianism and divisive ideologies. He founded Almouwatin Bruxelles Media, an initiative to promote intercultural dialogue and raise awareness of the importance of living together. His creation of the World Day of Peace testifies to his unwavering commitment to promoting values of tolerance and harmony.

As a writer, he has wielded his pen with finesse to tackle complex subjects. His book, “Islam politique et démocraties libérales: les racines d’une incompatibilité existentielle”, published in 2023, is an example of his relentless work to dispel misunderstandings about Islam and combat the conflation of Islam and Islamism. His numerous articles have sought to enlighten minds about the various currents of Islam, while denouncing insidious forms of discrimination such as Islamophobia, anti-Semitism and homophobia.

Lahcen Isaac Hammouch is not content with his commitment to the field. His academic background is equally impressive, with a rich array of degrees and certifications reinforcing his expertise. He holds a diploma as an adult trainer and facilitator (CFS), a diploma as a development agent and intercultural mediator (CBAI), as well as a diploma as a specialized educator from the Institut Jean Pierre l’Allemand. His Certificat d’aptitude à la gestion des institutions culturelles (CBAI) also testifies to his ability to manage projects in the service of the community.

In addition, he furthered his knowledge by obtaining a university diploma in “Religious Sciences”, with a specialization in Islam at the UCL, as well as a sociological study on “Social Action and Cultural Diversity” at the ULB. His Emouna certificate in “inter-religious dialogue” at UCL and his Master’s degree in international politics at ULB complete this impressive career path, making him an expert in diversity, intercultural dialogue and governance.

Today, Lahcen is also Chairman of Bruxelles Media, a press agency that brings together 24 international newspapers, reinforcing his role as an influential voice in the media landscape. As a consultant to the European Parliament, the UN and European institutions, he brings his expertise to bear on crucial issues, helping to formulate policies that promote peace and social cohesion.

His pen continues to flourish, having just completed his second book, “Peace in the South Caucasus”, which will be published in September, and he is currently working on his third book, focusing on jihadism in the Sahel. These works testify to his commitment to exploring contemporary themes and raising public awareness of global issues.
Lahcen Isaac Hammouch is currently running in ninth place on the list of Les Engagés, a humanist party of the center. This party positions itself neither on the right nor on the left, but aims to bring people together and play a facilitating role in ending the left-right divide, which has never brought political stability to Belgians. His political commitment aims to defend a vision of a society where every individual, regardless of faith or origin, can live freely and with dignity. For him, Brussels, with its 187 nationalities, must be a model of social dialogue, peace and inclusive governance.

Lahcen is an active citizen, a true ambassador of diversity and a fervent defender of civil rights. By voting for him, the citizens of Brussels are supporting not only a man of merit, but also a vision of a harmonious and prosperous future for all. His background and commitments make him an excellent candidate to carry the voice of a strong, united society, ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

For a future where every voice counts and diversity is celebrated, Lahcen Isaac Hammouch is a wise choice for Brussels voters.
