The sublimated poster
Remarkable graphic object, omnipresent in our daily lives, the poster must capture attention and transmit a message in a short time.
It combines numerous visual components and a multitude of elements determine its impact: colors, composition lines, presence of objects and shapes, typography, position of texts, contrasts.
On the basis of a wide selection of Geneva posters retained within the collection of the Geneva Library, “Poster World” uses artificial intelligence to analyze metadata and generate triptychs of posters based on formal similarities, revealing on the screens a graphic richness that is difficult to perceive and recomposed at leisure.
The project
“Poster World” is the fruit of a research work in design and digital innovation two years, led by EPFL+ECAL Lab in collaboration with the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich. Here he reveals content specific to the Geneva Library. The curation, that is to say the choice of posters made from the collection of the Library of Geneva, was carried out by the historian Jean-Charles Giroud.
