    A “well-being” walk to improve your mental health | City of Geneva

    The Cantonal Health Office is organizing, from October 5 to 13, 2024, the first week of mental health in Geneva. In this context, the Department of Social Cohesion and Solidarity invites you to participate in an informative walk. Framed by community health nurses from the Social Service of the City of Geneva, this walk includes breathing and mobility exercises suitable for everyone.

    Frequency of feeling alone

    Mental health is a source of concern in Geneva. The 2022 Swiss Health Survey found that levels of depression and of psychological distressas well as the sleep disorderswere particularly high in the canton. Just like the frequency of feeling of lonelinesswhich contributes to deteriorating mental health. It is also proven that one in two people in Switzerland will suffer from psychological disorders during their life.

    THE maintaining social ties And physical exercise promote mental health. The “well-being” walk will be an opportunity to make new contacts and do some breathing and mobility exercises. It will also allow you to find out about the resources available in the canton to improve your mental health.

    Health promotion activities

    This activity is part of actions to promote the health of Social service of the City of Geneva. Local social teams thus offer “Healthy Cafes” on both banks of the City.

    The program “Let’s stay dynamic” invites seniors to meet for a physical activity session once a week throughout the year in different parks in Geneva.

    To better understand your mental health, you can also try the mindsUP app. On Friday October 11, Senior City offers, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., a conference on this tool which offers advice to improve your well-being.
