Let’s kick off the festivities with the opening of Christmas at the Quai | City of Geneva

From November 21 to December 24on the Quai du Mont-Blanc, more than 100 chalets fully decorated will house carefully selected craftsmen, artisans, restorers and restorers.

The artisans will present magnificent creations of all kinds, the best way to make gifts locally.

As for the restaurateurs, they will offer small seasonal dishes to eat on site.

“This Christmas Market has become a unmissable event of winter entertainment, it contributes to theattractiveness of Geneva because of its quality and its atmosphere”, estimates administrative advisor Marie Barbey-Chappelles. “The City of Geneva is delighted to have been able to launch this call for projects for this market which appeals to an extremely wide audience, it is a real success popular”, concludes the magistrate.

The Market is growing

This year the Market will extend to the Bains des Pâquis side, with even more craft chalets.

Nearly 70 creators will be presented, with ceramics, jewelry, artisanal candles, hats to keep warm and even local delicacies. Each week, several of them will give way to the next one, in order to offer a new experience to visitors from week to week.

The program is enriched

Christmas events are one of the essential elements that bring all the magic to the Market.

Shows for everyone

Every year it welcomes new artists who offer free shows for all audiences. Open-air orchestras, marching bands and even Christmas acrobats will perform throughout the period.

Workshops for children

For the little ones, a multitude ofworkshops will be offered in the yurts, such as making fir wreaths, creating Christmas cards, musical awakening or even educational sessions on ecology and nature. And for those who would like to enjoy the outdoors, it is even possible to visit the Market on the back of a pony!

Christmas Pub

The older ones are obviously not forgotten. The unmissable Christmas Pub is cooking up a line-up of DJs to warm you up on the dance floor. Choose your day according to your sound!

The Chalet expands its lunchtimes

The environment thanks you

Thanks to a community effort, the Market will take an additional sustainable step.

All drinks will be served in reusable or recyclable containers. The dishes will be served in returnable dishesor in a simple small paper if the weather allows it.

While you sleep, the Market will also rest in turning off some of its lightsin order to save energy. And then the effort will also be made within the organization, which with the support of Bank Raiffeisen will offer individual water bottles to all staff in order to avoid intense consumption of plastic bottles.

As for the restaurateurs on site, most of them agreed to participate in theBeelong study organized in collaboration with the City of Geneva. This diagnosis aims to reduce the impact of food on the environment and to contribute to improving the quality of the product sector.
