    A translucent composition obtained by the assembly of glass and lead, stained glass transfigures the material and the subjects depicted. Until now, only a few stained glass windows inserted into the architecture of the Ariana Museum and the Museum of Art and History were visible.

    The exhibition “Post Tenebras Lux” gives access to little-known worksextracted for the occasion from Geneva municipal reserves. “After darkness, light”: let yourself be dazzled by sparkling art, presented in the sumptuous setting of Ariana.

    Stories revealed

    With a collection of stained glass windows dating from the 1140s to 2007, the Ariana Museum preserves a collection mainly from Switzerland and neighboring regions. This set stands out with its 370 figured pieces, like so many stories to discover.

    In partnership with the Vitrocentre Romont (Fribourg) and the University of Geneva, the 5th part of the series “Ariana comes out of its reserves” aims to reveal a selection of this heritage exceptional.
