The second edition of “A city in transition” will take place at 7.30 pm on Thursday 9 November 2023, at Uni Mail. For this special evening, the City of Geneva is delighted to welcome Boris Cyrulnik, neuropsychiatristauthor of popular books and Director of Education at the University of Toulon.
Through numerous works media interventions at the end of the 1990s, Boris Cyrulnik popularized the concept of resilience, which refers to a person’s ability to cope with, adapt to and recover from difficult situations following traumatic experiences or in the face of adversity. Boris Cyrulnik’s vision inspires anyone who is interested in the torments of the human soul and highlights the ability of individuals to overcome difficulties and thrive in difficult circumstances.
The conference held by Boris Cyrulnik is a valuable opportunity for the general public in Geneva to learn more about this concept. Mr Cyrulnik’s powerful words, shared experiences and support in individual and collective life paths are always greatly appreciated and very welcome.
The event offers a unique opportunity to hear this peerless speaker in a context marked by violence, which is at the heart of his latest book “Forty thieves in affective deprivation. Animal fights and human wars” (“Forty thieves and emotional deprivation. Animal combats and human wars”, ed. Odile Jacob).

This evening is the second in a series of events devoted to instances of transition in people’s life paths such as the birth of a child, reaching adulthood and the death of a loved-one. All such moments are at the very heart of the actions of the Department of Social Cohesion and Solidaritywhich implements public policy and services in favor of numerous population categories, from birth to the end of life.
