The City’s municipal police donate blood | City of Geneva

The idea came from a member of the municipal police and his colleagues responded. The municipal police officers of the City of Geneva, all volunteers, have seized the opportunity to be able to work a little more in favor of the population but in a new way this time: by donating their blood.

The collection takes place today Tuesday December 5 to the Plainpalais Community Hallspecially assigned for the occasion by the Municipal Police Service of the City of Geneva and equipped as a real collection center by the team of the Blood Transfusion Center (CTS) of the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG).

    Involvement and spirit of solidarity

Commander Christine Camp, head of the municipal police department, expressed her satisfaction with this collaboration: “This initiative demonstrates the involvement and spirit of solidarity of our agents towards the community. Donating blood is a life-saving gesture and our presence here illustrates our commitment to the well-being of our community.” And added: “this is a first for our service and, given the enthusiasm shown by our employees, our intention is to be able to perpetuate this beneficial initiative by repeating it several times a year .”

“This action is also part of the continuity of municipal police missions since it is another way of protecting the community,” underlines Marie Barbey-Chpuis, administrative advisor for the City of Geneva in charge of security. “I congratulate and thank the agents for their initiative.”

In Geneva, 70% of donations are made directly within HUG and 30% of donations are made during collections in municipalities, businesses and secondary schools. This action by the municipal police, in collaboration with the HUG, contributes to this external collection dynamic aimed at encouraging more donors.
