In addition to l’Asphalte, dedicated to urban sports, the City of Geneva provides sports classes and activities open to all ages at the Canopy.
This site is one of the mayoral projects of Marie Barbey-Chpuiswho is keen to develop sports activities in public areas. “La Canopée is open to everyone,” stresses the current Mayor of Geneva. “We provide a wide range of free classes, with no need to register in advance. It is a flexible offer which allows as many people as possible to take advantage of these facilities,” explains the magistrate.
Free classes in the morning and evening
Run by certified coaches, the classes are held in the morning from 8.30 am to midday and in the evening from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm In a shady green setting, the public can discover activities such as cross training, yoga, meditation and zumba. Classes will begin this weekend, and more precisely from 9.30 am on Saturday 11 June.
Refreshments bar and food truck
For anyone who simply wants to relax or enjoy the scenery, a new feature of the Canopée this year is the refreshments bar run by the Geneva Federation of LGBT associations, as well as a food truck. Visitors can therefore enjoy a bite to eat on a patio by the water’s edge or even enjoy a game of pétanque.
