Closure of the Falaises trail: construction of the footbridge | City of Geneva

    A new open-air footbridge

The old covered gallery, located downstream of the path, at the height of the pumping stationhas already been demolished. It will make way for an open-air walkway, protected by a net fixed to the overhanging cliff.

The gateway has for aim of moving the route away from the cliff at this location. The modules of the old gallery, preserved and planted with vegetation, will be used as receptacles for falling gravel.

Other work to protect the route from landslides and rockfalls has been completed.

Sentier des Falaises closed during work

This work involves once again closing the Cliffs trail, which had been open during the summer to allow the population to enjoy this very popular site.

The construction site right-of-way will stop atwest end of the Priory of Saint-Jean promenade. Passages through the park as well as access to the pontoon will remain free.

At the same time, the games place called “hippos” (located in the same sector) will be subject to rehabilitation, in collaboration with the Schools Department.

The City of Geneva thanks local residents, as well as walkers, for their patience during the work.
