The international drawing competitionKids 4 Human Rights” was initiated in 2018 as part of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The objective was to raise awareness of the importance of the text, adopted by the United Nations on December 10, 1948. The competition was repeated five years later, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Declaration.
An international competition
The international drawing competition “Kids 4 Human Rights” invited young people from whole world aged 10 to 14 years old to produce works based on three themes:
- the right that is close to their hearts to defend;
- represent a person they admire for his efforts to defend or promote human rights;
- how they can defend human rights.
The City of Geneva is fortunate to host this exhibition of October 31 to November 21 in the Uni Dufour hall. The opening will take place on Thursday October 31 from 5:45 p.m..
Human rights around the world
The Declaration promotes fundamental rights so that everyone can live and develop in dignity and peace. From the right to life, liberty and security, to the right to education and freedom of expression and association, including the right to work, equal pay and absence of any form of discrimination. It is the most translated document in the world, available in over 500 languages.
Despite efforts to protect human rights, hostility towards these rights and those who defend them continues to increase. This is why Human Rights Day invites us every year to reflect on rights, whether civil, economic, political or cultural.
