    Art, minorities and human rights: an exhibition not to be missed! | City of Geneva

    Since 2022, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, in partnership with Minority Rights Group International (MRG) and Freemuse, has organized the International art competition for minority artistsin collaboration with the City of Geneva. This competition aims to support artists who are engaged in the defense of human rights around the world.

    An exhibition – three editions of the competition

    Organized with the Arts Center of the International School of Geneva (Ecolint) on the occasion of its Centenary, the exhibition “Arts, minorities and human rights” honors the courseL’commitment and the work of the 22 winning artists of the 2022, 2023 and 2024 editions of the competition.

    • THE opening takes place on November 6, 2024 from 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., accompanied by a musical performance.
    • L’exposure is open to the public from November 6 to December 18, 2024.

    22 artists who are committed to human rights

    Originally from different countries, the artists featured in this exhibition are distinguished by their artistic commitment and their unique interpretation of experiences both personal and collective.

    Through their works, they address themes related to their identities and their rights inasmuch as minorities national, linguistic, religious or ethnic.

    Using various artistic means – photography, sculpture, drawing, painting, digital art, music or documentary creation, these artists explore subjects that mark the daily lives of many minority communities around the world, including statelessness, multiple and intersectional discrimination, and the importance of memory in the present.
