    Senior Promotions celebrate newly retired people | City of Geneva

    Organized since 2013, the Senior Promotions demonstrate the desire of the City of Geneva to promote the transition to retirement thanks to a friendly moment.

    This year, women born in 1960 and men born in 1959 residing in the municipal territory are invited to the magnificent setting of the Grand Theater of Geneva.

    Senior Promotions mark a stage in the lives of young retirees. The evening program is designed to offer them a moment of relaxation, with testimonials and information on the various forms ofcommitment and of participation to the life of the City.

    After a welcome aperitifthe evening continues with a brief official partwith:

    Retirement marks an important milestone in life’s journey. It is always positive to hear the testimonies of those who have experienced it. During this evening, two personalitiesspeaking freely and passionately, will discuss their commitments in this new period of life:

    • Marie-Françoise de Tassignyformer President and Deputy of the Grand Council of the Republic and Canton of Geneva and former head of Early childhood service of the City of Geneva (from 1988 to 2009);
    • François Ansermet, psychoanalyst, honorary professor of child psychiatry at the Universities of Geneva and Lausanne.

    A buffet dinner and a participatory lyrical concert with the mezzo-soprano Julia Deit-Ferrand will enhance this evening which is accessible by invitation.

    Of the stands of associations and institutions will be present for inform participants on the services and activities which are offered to them, and in particular the volunteer engagement opportunities.

    Senior Promotions are part of the Long life policy developed by the City of Geneva. This event is a sign of acknowledgement for the contribution of seniors to the life of the City and the services provided to the community.
