    Four sustainable companies awarded the 2024 IDDEA Prize | City of Geneva

    THE IDDEA Prize encourages, supports and rewards sustainable ideas that shape the future of the Geneva region. This year, 15 project leaders obenefited for 6 six months from a unique support ecosystem to transform their ideas into concrete business plans. The latter, coupled with a pitch, allowed the Prize jury to evaluate all of the finalists. THE 3 winning projects were revealed during the Gala eveninga friendly and inspiring moment to close this 12th edition. On this occasion, the public present also had the opportunity to award their favorite prize.

    The City of Geneva offers the first IDDEA prize (CHF 20,000.-) since the start of the IDDEA Competition in 2012. Alongside its G’innovate program or its budget intended for projects related to Climate strategythe municipality promotes the emergence and development of local and sustainable economic players in the areas of the circular economy, reuse, the social and solidarity economy and even local food. The City also facilitates the installation of these players in its commercial premises and takes an active place in the ecosystem of support for start-up businesses.

    The City of Geneva congratulates the winning projects which respond in a sustainable manner to a concrete problem in Geneva.

    1st Prize: Alpibreak

    CHF 20,000.- offered by the City of Geneva and the Canton of Geneva.
    In the world of outdoor activities, dehydrated meals available to hikers and athletes are often perceived as unsatisfactory in terms of taste and nutrition. It is on this observation that was born Alpibreak: the young Geneva company is reinventing the nomadic meal by offering a range of artisanal, tasty and balanced dishes, without compromising practicality. Thanks to her light and easy-to-prepare solutions, entrepreneur Melody Sirman offers nature lovers meals that combine pleasure, health and simplicity, thus responding to a major challenge in outdoor nutrition.

    2nd Prize: Floradeau

    CHF 10,000.- offered by the FER Geneva.
    Pollution, loss of aquatic biodiversity and degradation of freshwater ecosystems are major current challenges that are being addressed Floradeaua project led by Jules Hornung, specialist in hydrobiology. Inspired by nature, the Geneva entrepreneur is developing vegetated rafts that recreate floating habitats to strengthen aquatic fauna and flora and improve water quality. These ecosystems installed within bodies of water integrate perfectly into urban and natural environments, contributing to a functional green and blue network.

    3rd Prize: NOSE

    CHF 5,000.- offered by GIS.
    NOSE is a solution developed by Matthieu Ischer to help restore the senses of smell and taste. This Geneva project responds to a major health problem: olfactory and taste disorders, often caused by medical treatments such as chemotherapy, can profoundly affect the quality of life and nutrition of patients. These alterations frequently lead to significant weight loss and medical complications. NOSE offers a personalized approach to evaluate these sensory capacities and restore them, initially relying on adapted odors and aromas then on an application based on artificial intelligence subsequently.

    Audience Award: Ama-K Bro

    CHF 2,500.- offered by the Swiss Alternative Bank.
    Ama-K Bro transforms furniture intended to be thrown away into unique and sustainable creations thanks to upcycling. The Geneva association combines ecology and social impact by offering young people in difficulty a framework to develop their skills while participating in a circular economy. Renovated furniture, customized with environmentally friendly materials, is sold to extend its lifespan. Ama-K Bro also organizes intergenerational creative workshops, promoting responsible consumption and strengthening social ties.
