    Alongside its remit of conserving historic heritage, the Musée Ariana also develops ties with the modern-day artistic sceneas can be seen in these two new exhibitions.

    Nicolas Muller: By force

    Preserving collections is one of the main missions of the Musée Ariana. Intrigued by the notions of conservation, Nicolas Muller (France/Switzerland, 1983) has collected discrete and fragile traces left by works from collections kept in the storerooms.

    His projects reveal hollow images, minute and ephemeral traces showing the impact of time on materials.

    Charlotte Hodes: Outdoor Conversations

    The internationally renowned Charlotte Hodes (United Kingdom, 1959) presents a work combining the fine arts and applied arts. With her exhibition “Conversations en plein air”, the artist invites visitors to a joyful, colorful and poetic picnic.

    A contemporary version of Watteau’s “Fêtes galantes” or Manet’s “Déjeuner sur l’herbe”. The presence of masks and the distance between characters are reminders of the pandemic that has brutally transformed our social relations. Fortunately, the party takes place in the open air…
