Start of structural work
Located in the continuity of the Comédie, the site was first decontaminated. Then, the first phase of construction allowed the earthworks and the preparation of the building’s foundations.
This work was of great technical complexity, since the site adjoins the Eaux-Vives station tunnel and extends over an area of 10,000m2.
This project, consisting of a single eleven-story building, will include:
- in its upper part, 150 housing units carried out by the City of Geneva Foundation for social housing;
- in its lower part, public facilities City of Geneva.
New sports and public facilities in the heart of the city
A new sports Complex on three levels will be created, including:
- a 25m indoor swimming pool with movable floor;
- a sports hall allowing training and national competitions to be held for team and individual sports;
- a climbing room suitable for competitions.
A socio-cultural center of more than 1,000m2, on two floors, will take place in these new buildings. He will propose:
- a large multipurpose room;
- a space dedicated to youth, including music rooms;
- a space for neighborhood residents and associations, including 5 activity rooms;
- a children’s living space with 108 places on two levels, with a refectory and production kitchen.
The program also provides for a food trade open to the commercial gallery of the Eaux-Vives station, a bike station with 500 places, a road depot, a public civil protection shelter and a parking lot with 226 spaces dedicated to the residents of the neighborhood.
Ecological transition
The buildings, with very high energy performance (THPE), will respect the strategies adopted by the City of Geneva in terms of energy. They will produce electricity through the construction of photovoltaic solar power plants on the six high roofs.
